This is not a black and white picture.
After a cloudy, windy, rainy day yesterday the clouds cleared at the top of the sky and the sun was shining on the water while the clouds stayed in the lower sky.

The sun on the water creates so many vibrant colors of blue. Throw in the white of a seagull and it just amazes me.

Because the air is so cold and the water is still relatively warm most mornings when we wake up the gulf looks very much like a pot of boiling water. Bubbling water with steam rising. Very strange..........

Sunset is not my favorite time of day. It is like the end instead of the beginning. The intense color of the sun as it is going down seems like an effort to leave an unforgettable impression.

I saw this bird with one leg and then I saw another and another and I couldn't figure out what horrible thing caused all these birds to lose a leg. Then the birds started putting the other leg down. It was cold and they were roosting. I felt just a little dumb. OK! A lot!!!! lol

Seemed a little warmer today. Maybe we are just getting used to the Florida cold. Took my now usual walk, said Hi to my new friend (the bird) and continued to be amazed at the ever changing scenery on the beach.

Keeping my promise to myself to walk on the beach everyday was easier than I thought it would be at 40 degrees. The sun was warm and I found a friend. Absolutly fearless he walked with me for a while in and out of the cold water.......

I thought I would try this in black and white since the white sand resembled snow.

(Thanks Anita for the idea) The green leaves seemed at such a contrast to the cold air.

Starting to settle in. Resolve to venture out every day for a new photo. I never noticed the difference in the water every day. Beautiful shades of blue................

Found this Pine Cone on the beach today. Not what I would expect to find . Is it possible it was sent as a reminder of what I have left behind?
Still cold today. Felt strange to walk on the beach in coats, but the sun was warm and Regan built sand castles and put her toes in the water.......

We arrived at Navarre Beach, Florida to find a great condo with stunning views. This is our first sunset at our temporary home. Unpacked, took stock of what we forgot and spent an hour trying to figure out how to operate the TV.

January 1st, 2010

To start the new year I thoought this was a perfect beginning. We were in a Drury Inn in Memphis, Tennessee on our way to Florida. As you can see by Regan's face we were all pretty happy.

The plan is to spend the month of January in a Condo on the Gulf of Mexico. This is our first attempt at the Snowbird thing. It may or may not be for us, but we will see....
